Softening Up for Summer!

Posted on Updated on

Reading blogs this morning when I realized the sun was shining in on my living room make-over. I tried to get shots of it yesterday, but it was raining, and the flash kept washing out the pictures so they didn’t do justice to all the fussing I’d done. But the warm bath of sunshine called me to grab my camera and try again.  This is a bit more like it!

I found these delightful little dogwood pillows at a thrift store last fall, and couldn’t resist!  Sweetest little things were under $3 and are backed with a baby pink quilted fabric.  IMG_8657

Happy blooms from my friend Terri!  Friends who spread cheer with flowers.  Love ! And another thrift find: the blue vintage metal tray. Drum roll please: 99 cents. (Or was it 69 cents?…I can’t remember)

Found the vintage ticking pillowcase on Etsy for six bucks. And the lighter one I found at a thrift store for under a dollar. But it was one long piece in a six-inch wide strip.  So I sewed it together to add to my collection of vintage ticking pillow covers!  More love!IMG_8666 IMG_8668

Thrifting: Joy of the Finds!

Posted on Updated on

Playing around with the law of attraction has been way fun!  I dreamed of a plaid wool robe to wear all winter with my messy hair, slippers, and a coffee mug.  I am never warm, so only wool will do.  And what to my wondering eyes should appear  (on a little clothing rack at a community yard sale) but a Pendleton gem that was brand new or near!  And just my size!  Here is a hint of what a new one costs:

If you wanna go buy one…

But I paid $6 for mine.  Just sayin.

Pretty Plates

Another reason to hit thrift stores: I started collecting mismatched vintage plates for a plate rack that is in the works.  Here are a few favorites:IMG_7788 IMG_7787IMG_7834 IMG_7836 IMG_7839 IMG_7841 IMG_7844 IMG_7849 IMG_7850 IMG_7852 IMG_7853 IMG_7854 IMG_7855 IMG_7858IMG_7847 IMG_7860

Thrift Charms

The whole world is full of creativity and talent: all these goodies were at one time dreams in the mind of their creator. I never thought I’d be a girly girl, love pink, prissy, frilly, lacy, flowery, foo foo femenine stuff. But here I am, putting together little collections of treasures I’ve picked up for pennies and launching them to stardom.  Oh, I could resell them on ebay, but not just yet.  That would be like putting an old racehorse out to pasture before it ever hit the track!  Ahhh…savor the charm and playfulness of days gone by.

For the love of Thrift

Just a sampling of why I am addicted to thrifting.  Oh my.  They just don’t make stuff like this anymore! This darling little wall hanging was irresistably whimsical! And at 79 cents well; how could I NOT?IMG_7790 IMG_7792 IMG_7793 IMG_7795
