Summer Quilting

Posted on Updated on

The fun thing about about a summer quilt is all the bright colors and fresh whites.  This is the first large quilt I have created from start to finish.  I did a smaller one for Pete a while back.  It was closer to a twin.  This one is full size.  And I keep learning more and more as I go along.  This time, for example, I didn’t tie too far out to the unfinished edges, so I had plenty of room to play with the finishing.  IMG_7218

I learned how to hand tie a quilt last year, and did a couple vintage quilt tops that were ready to sandwitch.   My favorite thing is the hand tying and then taking all the pins out.  It’s the most exciting part!  I’m not so good with finishing, but here goes:  I took out all the pins from tying and then pinned the edges and pressed them to be sewn.

Here it is finished on the bed.

Ut oh.  It looks mighty sweet with my pillows in the guest room.  Maybe it won’t be a wedding gift after all!

I don’t want the bride to see my mistakes!

I turned out really cute! I love it with the pillows, too.
